Loveland is known as the "Sweetheart City." Each year, hundreds of Valentines are packaged inside larger envelopes and sent to Loveland, where volunteers hand-stamp them with that year’s Valentine verse and share their passion for this land of love across the globe.

Recreation

The city park system is extensive in Loveland. There are over 25 city parks, plus two mountain parks nearby. The Loveland Sports Park boasts a synthetic turf Championship Field with terraced seating, field lighting, sand volleyball courts, basketball courts, inline hockey rinks and a skate park. If you like to hit the links, the Northern Colorado region has experienced a golf boom in recent years and there are literally dozens of courses within an hour’s drive, including three city-owned facilities.

Loveland is "The Gateway to the Rockies.” It is where the Great Plains meet the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Skiers are about three hours away from world-class slopes; hikers and campers have hundreds of miles of trails to choose from in Rocky Mountain National Park (30 minutes away); anglers can cast their flies in countless, pristine mountain streams and nearby lakes. Boyd Lake State Park offers options for boaters, anglers, water skiers and beach goers.
